Geoffrey Doig-Marx is the Artistic Director and Founder of The Mantis Project a Dance and Production Company and Creator/Artistic Director of The Elan Awards a showcase honoring choreographers who have changed the face of dance.  Past Elan Awards honorees have included Susan Stroman, Graciela Daniele, Jerry Mitchell, Ann Reinking, Rob Marshall and Lar LubovitchThe Elan Awards also showcases works from additional choreographers. 

During the summer of 2010 Geoffrey choreographed the critically acclaimed production of “Annie Get Your Gun” for Park Playhouse. Recently he choreographed “Sing Along with Iggy” and “It’s a Woman’s World” for the NYC Children’s Theatre and “One Night Only” starring Lea Delaria. He created a retelling of “Pandora” with LA Composer Peter Michael von der Nahmer, choreographed the music video “Cougar in the House” for Latin cross-over star Stebani Cruz and co-created with Tricia Arenson, The Elan Annual Summer Dance Festival in Provincetown Mass.

Currently he is working on bringing “One Tough Nut”, his comic retelling of “The Nutcracker,” and the new musical “Halley’s Comet” by Andrea Green, to New York audiences.  Geoffrey has served as Assistant Choreographer to Director Denis Jones and Creator/Executive Producer Jerry Mitchell for “Broadway Bares 16-New York Strip” and Creative Associate for “Broadway Bares 17- Myth Behavior, 18-Wonderland” and “Click it-19.0” for Director Peter Gregus at Roseland in NYC.

Mr. Doig-Marx is currently on faculty at Marymount Manhattan College, ARB’s Princeton Ballet School, Rider University, Westminster College of the Arts and The Pulse in Westchester. He is a member of Actor’s Equity and an associate member of The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. He has previously worked on the staffs at Broadway Dance Center, STEPS, Ballet Arts, Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, and Susan Jaffe’s Princeton Dance and Theatre.  

As a performer, Mr. Doig-Marx appeared in the Equity National Tours and Regional Theater Productions of  West Side Story, Pippin, A Chorus Line, Dames at Sea, Cabaret, La Cage aux Folles, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar and many others.

Geoffrey has received  a Certificate of Excellence in Cultural Achievement from the Manhattan Borough President office of The Mayor of New York City for his work with The Elan Awards and  is the recipient of “The Harkness Choreographers Grant” from SUNY Purchase.  An avid animal rights supporter he is a member of PETA and the ASPCA. Mr. Doig-Marx’s tell all book about his days as a Disney dancer is titled “Not Only Magic Floats”.
