THE ELAN SUMMER DANCE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO PROVINCETOWN (NEW YORK, NY July 17, 2009)
The Elan Summer Dance Festival, presenting the works of New York and Boston-based choreographers returns to Provincetown, MA on Saturday, August 22, 2009. The choreographers and companies being presented currently include, Synthesis Dance Project (New York), BoSoma Dance Company (Boston), Ryan McNally (New York) Andrea Andresakis (New York), Maria Hackbarth (New York), The Mantis Project (New York), Noelle Patten Dance (New York), Roschman and Artists (New York), BODYART (New York), Beings dance (New York), and Nicole del Pino (New York).
This summer festival is part of The Elan Awards, a dance festival held in New York City that showcases the works of fourteen choreographers and honors choreographers who have made a significant impact on dance altering the way dance is viewed today; past honorees of The Elan Award include Graciella Daniele, Jerry Mitchell, Ann Reinking, Rob Marshall, Lar Lubovitch and Susan Stroman.
Named “ONE OF NINE DANCEMAKERS MAKING HISTORY” by Dance Spirit Magazine in 2001, Geoffrey Doig-Marx is the Creator/Artistic Director of The Elan Awards, Director of Arias Dance NYC and the Artistic Director/Founder of The Mantis Project Dance Company. Mr. Doig-Marx received a Certificate of Excellence in Cultural Achievement from Manhattan Borough President, Office of The Mayor of New York City for his work with The Elan Awards.
The Elan Summer Festival is presented by Geoffrey Doig-Marx and Tricia Arenson and will be held on Saturday, August 22nd from 9:00am-8:00pm in front of The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House (236 Commercial Street Provincetown, MA 02657) Free to the public.
